This is the name for a collaborative design practice made up of two sisters, Maria Yaschuk and Ekaterina Yaschuk. Maria is a Surface and Textile Artist while Ekaterina is a Spatial Designer and Stylist. They were both born in Moscow, but grew up in Oslo and we have been collaborating professionally since 2001.

Maria Yaschuk trained in Print Media – Surface Design and gained her B.A. Honours Degree from London College of Printing & Communication in 2002. She then studied at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, University of the Arts, London and graduated in 2004 with an M.A. in Design for Textile Futures. On this course she explored ambient computing and experiential and interactive technologies for interior design use. Ekaterina Yaschuk graduated in 2005 with a B.A. Honours Degree in Theatre, Design for Performance and in 2007 with an M.A. in Creative Practice for Narrative Environments, both from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, University of the Arts, London. She is interested in collaborative and interdisciplinary design practice and ways of considering the future and our part within it.

In our work we employ computer-based technologies in the form of digital printing for striking wallpaper that works as a feature for contemporary interiors. These wall surfaces will not fade into the background but create a strong visual impression. Our bespoke service offers handmade products where digital prints can be made to any size and on a selection of substrates ranging from high quality wallpapers to textile-based wall coverings as well as a variety of flame retardant fabric for upholstery and cushions.

Lighting is a feature that one would normally expect to see next to or attached to the wall but MEYSTYLE have abandoned tradition and incorporated lights into our wallpapers. LEDs provide ambient lighting and they are fully incorporated into the material. The subtle lighting adds an aesthetic quality but also provides a spatial marker at night when all other lights are off. The use of Swarovski crystals accentuates the impact of the LEDs as the two work in harmony to create a dramatic impact.

MEYSTYLE’s mission is to rescue walls from the background, integrating bold patterns with LED lights and crystals to create a deep visual experience that transforms walls and wallpaper into works of art.
